Every news channel over here has film of "winter wonderland" in USA/Canada.

How bad is it or good?

-20 would not be doing me any favours physically.

Raleigh, North Carolina, where I live, is about to break a record for consecutive hours spent below freezing (159 hours).  The temperatures have consistently been in the teens and twenty's, Fahrenheit.   I'm sure people from colder climates would laugh at that but it is usually fairly warm here.

We are experiencing something of a heat wave compared to last week. 30 degrees, wind chill makes it seem only 25 degrees. Practically balmy.

Here on LI it is 14 degrees with a RealFeel of -11 right now...had snowstorm yesterday that the local news channels were calling a "bomb cyclone"??? What the heck is that???

At least 15 inches of snow with drifts even higher due to the high winds of 50 miles an hour! It was brutal...and yes, I went to work!   Will be down to 2 degrees overnight. More snow coming on Monday.

j18931234.jpg

In past snowstorms, I would panic....not about the usual eggs, milk, bread and toilet paper (my must haves were soda, potato chips and chocolate!) but did I have enough cigarettes stockpiled in the house? Now....cigarettes are off the radar! What a great feeling plus I did not have to stand outside and stick things in my mouth and light them on fire in that brutal weather!

Just walked my dog and my hands almost froze off here in NYC! Rozuki you took the words right out of my mouth! My poor smoking neighbors toughing it out in the wind and freezing temperatures to smoke....I am so glad I am not out there with them. Or worse, hanging out my bathroom window with my hoodie tied so only my face is sticking out to avoid stinking up my hair, changing hands every two seconds because the cold is too hard to bare for just one smoking hand!

I think our coutry would come to a complete standstill if we got the temperatures others are talking about on here ๐Ÿ˜ฎ We would have to declare a national emergency if we got below minus 5 here ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes Faith....we had 3 inches of snow 3 weeks ago and it made national news. Parts of the infrastructure closed down as usual.

What if we had 3 ft of snow? Radio silence....
