Read Read Read

Don't resign to your junkie thinking. Do not let it control your emotions. For every negative thought your junkie thinker has, you need to enrich your brain with a positive thought. So on those days you are feeling the struggle a little more, get in here and read and remind your brain what a good thing it is to be quit. Knowledge is power. It's kind of hard for the brain to argue when it is facing the truth about addiction.

This is my first post to anyone for any reason. I type with one finger and a lot of looking(SLOW) :) I have smoked for 45 years because I enjoyed it. The last few months I have noticed I just don't enjoy it at all. I got a cough and a rattle at night. Time for a change. I saw your web site on TV, and here I am. I am on day 5 of my quit, and because of the herbs that were suggested and the words that have become my montra " the worst craving only lasts three minutes" I will be fine. I don't know very mutch about computers but I would love one of those counter banners. Any help?

The Newbie Package is called sticky because it is set to stay at the top of the board where it is easy for newbies to find. Up until recently, someone had to keep "bumping" it to keep it up on the first page of the board.

I noticed you have posted in a number of places. The best place to post is on the main board. You can always respond to someone else's thread, but if you need help, the best thing to do is start a new thread. And, if you feel like you are going to cave, put the word SOS in the title of the thread.

Three weeks four days since quitting: saved £113.25, lost half a stone in weight, gained the ability to walk fast to work (a mile) in under 15 minutes, am doing four 10k runs this year, my son is delighted, my dog gives me kisses now where before she used to sneeze cos my breath ponged, I don't have to sneak outside in wintery weather because I needed a puff, long train journeys are now to be enjoyed not panicked over because I couldn't smoke during them - why the hell would I start again???!!! :D

New members often wonder what the board's icons mean. Here is a list of some of the most common board icons, and descriptions for each.

Two general points
- Red icons are unread items, blue/grey are read
- A star on any thread means you have posted in it
