I certainly no longer believe in the cigarette and as time goes on that lack of belief gets stronger and stronger.
A PM FROM( SKIP)/ADMIN WAS RECEIVED AND OPENED AFTER I POSTED THE I'M STAYING IN HERE POST!!!

Although this was posted in 2007, it has a great amount of power in it for me, the first time reader;
especially the part about not smoking again and the fear associated with what Eric called the
double-edged sword. A day at a time I can't have one cigarette, because the madman returns and I
am off to the races again. For today it's NOPE. Not One Puff Ever(Today). I'll deal with tomorrow when
it gets here.

Thanks for everyone's support,

Brother B.

I don't think I could have quit without learning that the cigarette effectively does nothing except make you want another one. It's just an endless cycle until I consciously put a lot of effort into changing it.

Quit from 3/8/14

I totally agree, dancer. Without educating myself as to how nicotine works, and how it totally takes over a smoker's life, I doubt if I would have been able to have quit, either. I think what enabled me to take the first step, was in learning that it only takes 3 or so days to rid your body of nicotine. Not that there aren't other obstacles to overcome, but saying "no" to that first cigarette of the day, the day I quit, was for me the most difficult part of the whole thing.

There sure are some good posts on the board; that whomever is remembering them and bumping them up! :D
Choosing NOT to smoke since 4/18/2010.
