Can anyone suggest ways to satisfy my oral fixations without eating?

My favourite is Thursday Plantation Tea Tree chewing sticks. Chomp down on one of these and I forget about a cigarette!

I had large spicy cinnamon lollipops that helped a lot. Also, the new werthers coffee caramel.

Cigarettes were always the end of the meal. Cigarettes made me rush through a meal so I could get my next fix. I had a problems at first because their was no stop to the meal and I over ate. I started to fix a plate with a normal amount of food and I would immediately start doing the dishes after eating. Just get up and start doing something. Change the routine. Go outside or take a walk just remember to break the old routine.

Plastic straws cut the length of a sickerette so you can do a little "pretend smoking". They help you breathe the way you are most used to and deal with the hand-to-mouth habit.

Cinnamon sticks.

Sugarfree popsicles. You can chew on the stick for a bit when done.

Typing (a.k.a. posting or blogging). Computer games.

Get busy doing things you don't normally do..... if you don't exercise, start. Lifting free weights (dumbbells) is a good place to start. Dance videos for some cardio are good, too. Or, just turn on your favorite songs and make it up as you go.
Take care of you, Patti

I'm with Patti on this one. Loved my little straws. You can puff on them and all you get is nice, clean air. And when you chew to to pieces...no calories. Others have used cinnamon sticks. I tried that but they are kind of expensive and also crumble too much for me. mary

I used Red Vine licorice. Cut it into pieces the length of a cigarette and carried them around in a ziploc bag. When I had that "urge" I would pull out a piece of licorice and stick it in my mouth. Worked well at home and the office. I chose Red Vine because of the low fat content.
