Anyone else successful using the gum?

Anyone else successful using the gum?

Postby Estawon » Wed Oct 12, 2011 1:56 am

This is my first post. I think the gum helped me alot on my quit. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for 16 years. I never was able to quit for more than 3 days. And that was only cause i was forced to.
This time its like all the stars aligned for me. I moved to a non smoking house, lost 2 smoking friends, my smoking buddy at work got laid off etc.
I took the gum for 10 days and was easily able to break the habit of going out for a smoke. I then stopped taking the gum and i am on day 6. It hasnt been too bad. I dont want to smoke at all but i have gotten some depression. Other than that its going great.

If you are not allowed your very own opinion without explaining yourself to death to others that don't matter, Then is it really worth it?

Some people just do not get it, and they never will, because it is always about them and their ways.

Alot of people's success is because of having a winning/can do attitude. You could use nothing & be a quitter if deep down not ever smoking was number 1 goal. Yeah reading the so called success rates of people using aid to quit don't sound real postive but look how many are here using this site & are smoke free :D

Estawon - Congrats on your great start.

Please bear in mind the www.WhyQuit.com site is strictly a cold turkey site. They do not even allow membership to anyone who doesn't do it their way. Right or wrong, that site has an unapologetic bias against any quit method but cold turkey.

The sorry truth is that every method of quitting has an abysmal rate of success. During the month I quit, slightly more than 100 people joined QSMB, but at the one year annivesary only 2 or 3 of us were still quit.

The best method is the one that works for you. If nicotine gum is getting it done for you, then stick with it [no pun intended]. Don't let anyone or anything break your commitment or confidence in the method you are using.

Estawon

Glad you are doing so well with your quit.

The series was great fun. Both teams have excellent talent and the games were hard fought and competitive Most importantly - The Right Team Won. World Champions #11.

Glad to see you are still quit! Gum for me was great those first few days when the withdrawal was horrible. I only had a piece when I thought there was danger of me smoking because of it. It hurt my tummy so by day 7 I had chewed only maybe 5 pieces and I gave all but a card of it away. I haven't used it since. My goal was always nicotine and smoke free. Congrats on your quit.

Thanks, its amazing how everyday I think less about smoking. I cant remember my last crave. the people here are right, as long as you educate yourself and commit to not taking a puff and dont forget where you came from. You will be successful.

I hit 4 months last week. after 100 days I stopped thinking about counting days everyday. I still come here atleast once a day so I dont get complacent. I do kinda feel the no-mans land feeling, like everyone thinks im over smoking. But thats normal.

Hi. Today is my seventh day and I decided to use the gum only when feeling really bad. So, on the average, I've been using 2 gums a day. Today, I have not taken one yet and it's already evening! I think the gum really does the thing and I keep chewing it long after all the nicottine is gone and I imagine I trick my brain a little in that way. It's weird that I am avoiding the gum now when, just seven days ago, I smoked twenty cigarettes a day... :?

Good job on the seven days, I started noticing the craves back off some around then. I was taking about 6 pieces of gum a day. My jaw started to get sore from chewing the hard gum so much. Probably one of the reasons I stopped using it so soon.

I believe its best to drop the gum once you get used to not going out for a smoke. I think if I would have followed the directions(take for 6 months) I would be hooked on it. Also dont keep any gum when you drop it, the craves end after a couple minutes and you dont want nicotene within your reach.
