It will be 17 days tomorrow.....I went the cold turkey route. I want to share what helps me a lot. I bought some black pepper extract and put it in an aromatherapy inhaler. Every time I get a craving I inhale the oil and I can taste it even when I exhale. It almost makes me feel like I'm smoking. I just hold it like a cigarette while I'm driving which helps a lot because that's when it seems to be the hardest. There was z study done online with smoking cessation and black pepper extract. Look it up, its very interesting .

does this not grow the seed in your mind that you miss smoking and wish that you were smoking?

It's great that it has helped you to abstain from smoking cigarettes and the physical healing will be doing you wonders,

I guess I'm a little dubious about using any alternative that involves inhaling and feeling like you are smoking as a method of distancing yourself from smoking.

It could be building a belief system that smoking is a pleasure that you miss, further down the line you may find that your resolve is too weak to turn down the odd cigarette and then you are back to square one.

just my take on it though, other theories are available lol :-)

Sounds scary to me.

That sounds scary to me too, just think about what damage its doing to your lungs, broncial tubes and even your stomach and esophagus.

Practicing deep breathing exercises to get through a crave is a whole lot safer if you ask me. :D

So I should do this while driving, yes? :P

What an odd post. "Ya know what gets me through craves? .... pepperspray inhalation!"

That's funny...

This so made me laugh....

But seriously Meagen ... whatever works for you. If I thought swinging a frozen chicken around above my head would have helped.... I would have done it.

Congrats on quitting :)

Might as well snore black pepper until your brain tingles and you sneeze your lungs out. That'll keep you from ever smoking again.

Megan, if it helps you stay away from smoking, do it. Do whatever you need to do to have the confidence you need to never touch tobacco again. There is a whole lot more to a smoking addiction that just a physical need for nicotine. If you stell need the hand to mouth action and this black pepper stuff helps, I don't see anything wrong with it... As long as you don't smoke.

Whatever keeps you quit!

Just keep your quit ;)

Hmmm never heard of this. But this just confirms how powerful of an addiction this really is. What else would make you want to inhale black pepper? Lol this is crazy!

Yes it may sound odd to some of you but it really helped me the first few weeks! I don't use it at all anymore. It's been 43 days since my last puff.....FYI it isn't black pepper that you put on your food, it's black pepper essential oil. Doesn't make you sneeze, it's a pleasant smell.......
